01.04.2014 Prize for Phillip Lowe
Some members of the Micklefield lab attended the RSC Chemical Biology and Bio-Organic Chemistry Postgraduate Symposium at the University of Warwick. Phillip Lowe was awarded a prize for his talk on Riboswitches. We all would like to thank the organizer for a great conference.
Farewell to Matthew and Ming
Congratulations to Dr Matthew Styles who successfully completed his PhD and will take up a PDRA position at the University of Bath in Metabolic Engineering/Synthetic Biology. Farewell also to Dr Ming-Cheng Wu (and baby daughter Ying-Xuan). Ming has been a member of the group for over five years and returns to Taiwan to continue his academic career in Chemical Biology at the National Taiwan University. Both will be missed!

6 new phd students and one new post-doc joined our lab recently. We welcome Daniel Francis, Heidi Fisk, Humera Sharif, Jonathan Latham, Eileen Brandenburger and Victoria Cronin and Dr. Michael Winn.

James Leigh, Matthew Styles, Sarah Shepherd, Brian Law and Anna Winona-Struck win the 1st place at the Student Team Working Award sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers for “Biotechnology YES 2012”.
11.04.2013 Prizes for Micklefield group members
The RSC Bioorganic Group Postgraduate Symposium took place in the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, on 11 April 2013. Matthew Styles from the Micklefield research group was awarded the prize for Best Oral Contribution for his talk on Combinatorial Biosynthesis, and Sarah Shepherd, also from the Micklefield group, was awarded a prize for her research poster on the engineering of halogenase enzymes.
