Kehan studied for an MChem degree in Chemistry at University of Manchester from 2020-2021. He studied on the improvement of solventless direct amidation reaction, which includes the combination of 3D printing, organic chemistry and reaction engineering. This was supervised by Dr Jordi Bures.
Kehan also undertook three internships, the first of which was at Nanjing Tech University during 2017-2018, where he studied in Pd/Ni-catalyzed deamination of α-amino acids. In 2019, he took the second internship in Suzhou university, and it was about hydrophobic materials. The third internships was taken in 2020, in Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which was about the hydrothermal synthesis of carbon quantum dots.
Kehan joined the Micklefield group in 2022 and his project involves the characterisation, development, and engineering of enzymes for more suitable synthesis towards valuable molecules, particularly focused on ligases.
Outside the lab, he enjoys playing board games, singing and cooking.
