Dr. Rémi Zallot

Rémi Zallot obtained his doctorate degree from Université de Bordeaux, France, in 2011, working on the identification and characterization of a TAG lipase expressed during Arabidopsis thaliana seed germination, under the supervision of Dr. Vincent Arondel. He joined the University of Florida as a postdoctoral researcher, learning the comparative genomics approach from Dr. Valérie de Crécy-Lagard and Dr. Andrew Hanson, applying it for the identification and characterization of genes involved in B vitamins metabolism and of the queuosine tRNA modification. Rémi then joined Dr. John Gerlt’s group, at the University of Illinois at Urabana-Champaign, working on the characterization of genes from the gut microbiome. An important part of his work was to also expand the capabilities offered by the Enzyme Function Initiative webtools (https://efi.igb.illinois.edu) and to provide training for their use. Obtaining a Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Individual Fellowhsip, Rémi Zallot joined Swansea University, focusing on the characterization of Cytochrome P450s in Mycobacterium species at the Centre for Cytochrome P450 Biodiversity. Rémi joined the Micklefield group in 2022.
