Dr Fanghua Wang

Dr. Fanghua Wang received his master degree in biology from Sun Yat-Sen Unviersity (2007) and then continued to pursue his PhD degree in biology with Professor Mingquan Xie in this university (2007-2010). He began his academic career first as an research assistant in Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences (abbreviated as “GIBH”)(2010-2011), and then as postdoctor in South China University(SCUT) (2011-2013). In 2013, he joined in the Yonghua Wang’s group in School of Food Science and Engineering, SCUT as associate Professor.  His current research field is Food enzyme engineering, mainly focusing on the discovery and characterization of novel lipase/phospholipase, understanding their structure-function relationships and their applications in biocatalytic transformation to prepare various functional lipids. He joined Micklefield group as an academic visitor in Feburary 2019 and his work is involved in the discovery, characterization and engineering of ligases for amide synthesis.
