He obtained the <em>Dipl\u00f4me d\u2019Ing\u00e9nieur <\/em>(equivalent to a Master\u2019s degree) with a specialisation in organic chemistry.<br \/>\nWhile studying at the ECPM, Jean-Marc did numerous placements as part of his curriculum, most notably a sandwich year at Actelion Pharmaceuticals in Allschwill, Switzerland. There, he acquired valuable experience in organic synthesis as part of the Hit-to-Lead team.<br \/>\nHis final year of undergraduate study was conducted at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore as an exchange student. Jean-Marc\u2019s final year project was supervised by Prof. Loh Teck Peng and aimed at the establishment of a facile synthesis of (-)-quinocarcin derivatives.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2014, Jean-Marc joined the Micklefield Lab as a PhD student to work on the integration of enzyme catalysis with transition metal catalysis in one-pot processes. The set of skills this multi-disciplinary project requires include the synthesis and analysis (NMR, HPLC, MS and LCMS) of organic molecules and protein expression and purification.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of the lab, Jean-Marc enjoys travelling, above anything else. And also watching movies that no-one seems to like.
