He joined the University of Florida as a postdoctoral researcher, learning the comparative genomics approach from Dr. Val\u00e9rie de Cr\u00e9cy-Lagard and Dr. Andrew Hanson, applying it for the identification and characterization of genes involved in B vitamins metabolism and of the queuosine tRNA modification. R\u00e9mi then joined Dr. John Gerlt\u2019s group, at the University of Illinois at Urabana-Champaign, working on the characterization of genes from the gut microbiome. An important part of his work was to also expand the capabilities offered by the Enzyme Function Initiative webtools (<a href=\"https:\/\/efi.igb.illinois.edu\/\">https:\/\/efi.igb.illinois.edu<\/a>) and to provide training for their use. Obtaining a Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Individual Fellowhsip, R\u00e9mi Zallot joined Swansea University, focusing on the characterization of Cytochrome P450s in <em>Mycobacterium<\/em> species at the Centre for Cytochrome P450 Biodiversity.
